Halloween 2007 - Demeter

Description

My Demeter is finally finished!

I am so, so unbelievably pleased at how everything came together. She's bright, poofy, and put-your-eyes-out colorful, and all of my pieces ended up complementing each other beautifully in the end. The result turned out to be more "Broadway" than "London", but I superseded even my original design in the end. This is a large improvement from last year, and I feel that my hard work has definitely paid off. <333

Wig: Made by myself using a variety of Red Heart, Aunt Lydia's Rug Yarn, Caron's Simply Soft Quick and Easy, and Lions Brand Homespun. Hot-glued onto a control-top pantyhose base.
Unitard: A nylon/lycra Bal-Togs, size medium. Painted by myself using Jacquard textile inks and dye-na-flow, and a variety of stiff-bristle brushes and thin metal tipped bottles. Fluffies are all Lions Brand Homespun yarn.
Gloves: Satin opera gloves purchased at the Icing. I cut the fingers out, resewed, and painted using a fading technique with Jacquard textile inks.
Tail: Made using the same variety of yarns and eyelash in the German style by myself, with a braided yarn base and satin cording tailbelt.
Shoes: Bloch laceless leather jazz shoes, painted with white acrylics and Jacquard textile inks. Covered in clear paint sealant.
Collar: Commissioned from the talented Lady Jemima.
Warmers: Commissioned from knitting extraordinaire nanayena.

Sadly, those paw prints chipped off as soon as I stepped onto my driveway. Also, you may notice that there's a line under my eye in some shots, but not others - it was so early that morning that I forgot an essential part of my make-up design until later. XD

Anyhow, here she is! My first-ever full CATS costume. I couldn't have done it without all of the marvelous people over on the CCDB, whose invaluable help along the way kept me from getting stuck and frustrated a long time ago. <3

To say the least, I had an absolutely fabulous Halloween, and this definitely isn't the last costume I'll be making.

CATS is property of T.S. Eliot, Andrew Lloyd Webber, the Really Useful Group, and many, many other costume designers that I can't begin to name.

If you're truly curious, more photos can be found here, on my Photobucket account.

I hope all of the rest of you had as much fun as I did!

This is very very cool, probably the best home-made "Cats" costume I've seen to date. Good job!!
